Working with Images

Working with Images

1. Use “alt” tags

“Alt” tags provide a text-base description.

Alt tags provide an alternative for non-visual browsers and screen readers.

  • Be brief
  • Be clear
  • Make it relevant to the context
  • When an image contains text, identify it in your alt text description

2. Uploaded documents should be in text format

In some cases, such as a scanned document, the text content is actually an image and therefore not accessible to screen readers. Where possible, upload and link to text-based documents rather than documents in image format.
