Most of what you need to do to make video accessible is done outside of Carleton’s cms. A few suggestions are listed below. Please visit one of the resource sites for more information.
- When creating video content for the web, consider adding captions, audio descriptions and/or transcripts.
- Videos should not automatically start upon page load.
- Videos should be controllable by keyboard controls.
The Paul Menton Centre is in the process of developing captioning software that will allow video producers on campus the ability to quickly caption videos that they produce or use on their websites. Contact Bruce Hamm at the Paul Menton Centre for information on this software.
