Guest Lecture: “Germany, the 2013 federal election, and the future of Europe”

Guest Lecture: “Germany, the 2013 federal election, and the future of Europe”

In September 2013, federal elections will be held in Germany. Will Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany for the last eight years, be able to convert her personal popularity into another election victory for her centre-right coalition? Or does opposition leader Peer Steinbrück stand a chance to upset her? What impact will the new anti-Euro party “Alternative for Germany” have on the electoral outcome? What are possible scenarios for government formation after the election? And how will this impact the future of Europe? Please join us as guest speaker Dr. Ernst Hillebrand, Head of the Department for International Policy Analysis of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung will address these and other questions.
