Continuing the discussion begun in the policy brief “Veiled Women, Open Threats?” on this site, this contribution suggests reasons why in recent electoral campaigns in Spain, Germany, and Austria there were very different approaches to the fundamental question of national identity in the face of growing religious diversity.
